Cristina Rodriguez earned her associate's degree in Business Administration from LaGuardia Community College (LGCC) in 2009 as a student in the Accelerated Study in Associate Program (ASAP). Wanting to improve the public healthcare system, Cristina hopes to merge a business background with her desire to increase access to quality healthcare and education in low-income communities.?As such, Cristina is currently pursuing a degree in Communication, Legislation, Economics and Government (CLEG) at American University (AU). At AU, Cristina serves as the publicist of the Transfer Student Association, executive board representative for the DC Latino Student Partnership and the Latino and American Student Organization and has interned on Capitol Hill. Community service and volunteerism are very important to Cristina and she was an active volunteer through NYCares as a LGCC student. Her ultimate goals is to represent low-income and underserved communities and to be an instrumental force in empowering the Latino community about their rights and value as Citizens, immigrants, and residents of the US.
