John Jay College of Criminal Justice student Alma Osorio grew up in El Salvador and arrived in the U.S. in September of 2006.  Alma is studying to become a lawyer so she can work with the U.S. Government while advocating and representing the needs of people in her community. She would like to open a community center where recent immigrants can get English instruction, receive legal advice, and referrals to resources that will enable them to attain higher levels of education and achieve economic stability.
