Mame Sourang is a native of Senegal. Upon arriving to the United States in 2006, at the age of 18, Mame decided to enroll in high school, despite her age, in order to fully immerse herself in American culture and develop her English skills. Mame's plan worked, and after graduating from high school, she successfully enrolled in and graduated from Kingsborough Community College as a Liberal Arts major. Mame has always had an interest in pursuing a career as a doctor and is currently enrolled at Smith College, majoring in Anthropology. She would like to explore a professional path that will allow her to address and advocate for the public health needs of people living in developing countries and low-income communities, especially women and girls.
