Luis Feliz is a Liberal Arts major in the Honors Program at LaGuardia Community College. The aspiring English professor launched his school’s literary magazine. He has volunteered as an ESL teacher with New Immigrant Community Empowerment (NICE), and would like to author a book about the immigrant experience in the U.S. Recently Luis received the distinguished chapter officer award for his leadership in LaGuardia’s chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), the international honor society of two-year colleges.  He spent last summer studying at Vassar College’s Transfer Program for Community College Students. Luis will attend Amherst College on a full scholarship from the college where he will participate in a special program for students interested in research.
