Andrew Santiago plans to write comedy, feature films and for TV, incorporating his experiences growing up in Brooklyn and showcasing the unique experiences of urban youth.  Born to Puerto Rican parents and an avid observer of the world around him, Andrew would like his writing to reflect his belief that everyone benefits from humor.  Andrew is currently pursuing a Visual Media Arts degree with a concentration in Writing for Film and TV at Emerson College.  During the spring 2011 semester, Andrew is interning at Comedy Central as part of Emerson’s program in Los Angeles that enables students to intern in Hollywood and complete college courses.  Andrew was also selected for the competitive Nickelodeon Writer Script Review in partnership with the Austin Film Festival.   While at Emerson in Boston, Andrew wrote and performed for Emerson Comedy Workshop, the Evvy’s (an annual award show), and worked as a correspondent for Emerson Channel shows Common Agenda and Film School. He also serves as the Vice-President of Amigos, an organization that seeks to promote Latino culture and unity. Andrew is a member of Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society for two-year schools and graduated from Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC) as an “Out-in-Two” Scholar with an associate degree in Liberal Arts. Prior to attending Emerson Andrew served his New York City community through his work with after-schools programs at the Center for Family Life of Sunset Park, Brooklyn and Prep for Prep.
