Andrew Santiago plans to write comedy, feature films, and for TV, incorporating his experiences growing up in Brooklyn and showcasing the unique experiences of urban youth. Born to Puerto Rican parents and an avid observer of the world around him, Andrew would like his writing to reflect his belief that everyone benefits from humor. In May 2011, Andrew completed a Bachelor's degree in Visual Media Arts with a concentration in Writing for Film and TV from Emerson College. Andrew has interned at Comedy Central as part of Emerson's program in Los Angeles. Andrew was also selected for the competitive Nickelodeon Writer Script Review in partnership with the Austin Film Festival. While at Emerson, Andrew wrote and performed for Emerson Comedy Workshop, the Evvy's (an annual award show), and worked as a correspondent for Emerson Channel shows Common Agenda and Film School. He also served as the Vice-President of Amigos, an organization that seeks to promote Latino culture and unity. Andrew is a member of Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society for two-year schools and graduated from Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC) as an "Out-in-Two" Scholar with an associate degree in Liberal Arts in 2009. Andrew also served his New York City community through his work with after-school programs at the Center for Family Life of Sunset Park and Prep for Prep. While continuing to write and perform to further develop his craft, Andrew is currently working in his Alma Mater as an admissions counselor representing Emerson nationally.
